history. Anneliese Elizabeth Windsor was born 17 September 1985 to Michael and Patricia Windsor in London, England. An upper-middle class family with no worries, the Windsors were the epitome of a classic, perfect home. That is, until 1995. Around the time of Anneliese's tenth birthday, David, then fifteen, was caught in possession of alcohol on school property, and he was promptly expelled without question. This sudden, surprising event sent the family into a period of tension, culminating in a brief, quickly ended, separation of Michael and Patricia.
As the Windsor family got back on its feet with David at a new, albeit less selective, school, it was Anneliese's turn to attend Ashmole School, the very institution from which David had been expelled. Starting at Ashmole, Anneliese's teachers tried to be as welcoming to her as possible, but seriously and obviously doubted her and her familiy due to David's indiscretions. Bent on creating a new, better reputation for herself, Anneliese started in a department that David had never sampled; drama. Within a few years, she was in the eye of the school's musical and stage directors, and when she was old enough to audition, Anneliese took the plunge. Her very first audition won her the role of Alice in Alice in Wonderland.
Over the next year, Anneliese quickly became the newest star of Ashmole's theater company. Participating in every workshop the school offered, Anneliese's love for musical theater became apparent, and she starred as Philia in her second school musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In the fall of 2001, as Anneliese entered her 11th year, she decided to make an attempt at straight acting in the production of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. To her surprise, Anneliese was cast in the role of Katharina, and began preparing for her first major pure acting role. During one performance of the show, Anneliese received another huge surprise; an acting scout was scouring England for a promising young actress to portray Christine Daae in a film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera. Only just sixteen, Anneliese was very much on the young side, but the scout arranged with Michael and Patricia to take their daughter to New York to audition properly. After auditioning before Andrew Lloyd Webber himself, Anneliese was chosen for the role.
Though Anneliese's success was great, Michael and Patricia insisted on a contract that would not have an effect on their daughter's schooling. The contract was worked out, and Anneliese was soon the talk of the film industry. After her massive success as the young star of Phantom, Anneliese chose to work under the stage name of Anna, a simpler choice of name. In the following years, Anna was cast in many varied films, but always managed to stay in school and participate in theater there. Following her graduation, Anna chose to take university classes online so as to focus on her profession. It became clear that Anna's strength was in period films, and most of her work fell in that genre, with some notable exceptions.
Despite the reputation that was left to her, Anna remained very close to David. Very protective of his younger sister, he often accompanied her to premieres and award shows. Anna has been credited as saying that, if it were not for him, she would probably not be in the dramatic arts; after all, it was the desire for a new, clean reputation that introduced Anna to theater. Every bit the working girl, Anna is opinionated and blunt, sometimes to her detriment. It is noted by many that she has never had a serious relationship, or even a relationship that lasted long enough to be noticed by the press. As well, she has notably had little tolerance for any type of extensive media attention, and often says so. But her strong opinions and attitude have had little effect on her career, which has continued to skyrocket.
